The Arthur Awards continue to grow in international acclaim, and what began life as a friendly side-swipe at music business awards ceremonies has now – bizarrely enough – become perhaps the live industry’s most sought-after accolade.

The Arthur Awards 2009 will took place during the ILMC 21 Gala Dinner at Jumeirah Carlton Tower (Cadogan Place, London SW1X) on Saturday 14 March. To see this year's winners, click here.

This year, however, changes are afoot. Like all good punks, we’re railing against tradition and updating our annual award ceremony, and we’ve also added two new awards: Best in Show will recognise theatre shows and family entertainment, while the Most Professional Professional category is for professional advisers to the industry: lawyers, accountants, immigration services, tax advisers, insurance brokers etc.

But that’s far from it – we’ve tweaked a few rules too, the most important of which is that anyone who won an Arthur last time will not be eligible to be nominated the following year. Hopefully, this will give more people a chance to have their moment of glory – and generally spread the joy around…

We’ve increased the nominees from four to five, and, like the new ways of doing business that they’re bringing, there’s a whole new process involved in voting for the Tomorrow’s New Boss Award.

We’ve changed the process slightly because by their very nature – being ‘new’ bosses – not everybody may know who the serious contenders are in territories outside of their own. To help remedy this, Issue 19 of IQ magazine published the first annual New Bosses List, featuring ten future industry leaders. This list forms the nomination list for the Tomorrow’s New Boss Award, and the full list (in pdf format) can be viewed by
Clicking Here.

Nominations in the various categories were decided by a jury consisting of 50 randomly selected ILMC members and all winners of ILMC 20 Arthur Awards.

Voting is restricted to ILMC membership (whether attending this year’s ILMC or not) and to IQ’s readership. Only one vote can be cast in each category, although as usual the winner of the ILMC 21 Bottle Award will be decided by the nomination jury.

VOTING FOR THE ARTHUR AWARDS 2009 IS NOW CLOSED.
