Street Poster Exhibition
Main Room
|
The Street Poster Exhibition gives you the opportunity to see your company's
best gig posters of 2000 mounted and displayed on the wall of the main
conference room. It also gives everyone the chance to show the world in
general that the industry's artistic talents don't begin and end with
'creative accounting'...
The poster judged to be of the highest merit by our celebrity adjudicator will
be treated to an Arthur Award at the Gala Dinner, and granted digital
immortality on The Axis.
Just check the space on the registration form (there's a token charge of
£30.00 per poster to cover costs) and mail the one or two posters that you're
most proud of (with the name of the event, the artist and the designer) to:

The Nikos Fund Grand Prize Draw
|
Sunday 11 March / 14:30 - 15:00
The Park Terrace, Ground Floor
Royal Garden Hotel
Each year "The Nikos Fund" (which was established in memory of our old
friend Nikos Sachpasidis) raises money at the ILMC to distribute to a range
of worthy charities.
One of the devious means we've employed to accomplish this in the past has
been to send women and small children into your midst
throughout the weekend bearing raffle tickets - in a vain attempt to coax
money out of your pockets for the "Grand Charity Raffle Draw" on Sunday.
This year, however, as our contribution to the reduction of de-forestation
(and because we think the fund will actually benefit more) we have decided
to dispense with the sale of raffle tickets altogether (and all the unseemly
haggling that goes with it) and donate a portion of the final proceeds of
'ILMC the 13th' to The Nikos Fund instead.
Before perennial winners of the raffle (ie: Frank Van Hoorn..) throw up
their hands in despair, this doesn't mean that your chance of winning any
one of a glittering array of prizes is in any way reduced because - in
recognition of the fact that everyone will have contributed to the fund in
some way - each delegate pass will have a number on the back which will be
used for 'The Nikos Fund Grand Prize Draw' in the traditional slot during
the Sunday lunch break.
For those with golden hearts and deep pockets, we would like to direct you
toward the goodies at The Charity Swag Stall whose profits also go to The
Nikos Fund - you can win the hearts of your near and dear at home AND a
place in your respective heavens.

The Nikos Fund
|
|
This year, proceeds from the Nikos Fund will go to the PSA Welfare and
Benevolent Fund.
The PSA Welfare & Benevolent Fund is the world's first charitable fund set
up specifically for production crew.Ê The fund offers financial support to
those unable to work through injury or illness and to bereaved families, as
well as scholarships and bursaries for re-training where necessary.
The fund is not intended as "a hotel of last resort" for the poorly
organised, but as a safety net when the system fails those people who work
so hard in our industry. At all times it promotes the PSA's ethos that
prevention is better than cure.
Conceived in 1997, it was established in 1998. In January 1999, Sir Cliff
Richard OBE became the Fund's founding patron, and in the spring of 2000,
the Fund was granted charitable status by the Charity Commissioners.

The Leaflet Table
Lower Ground Floor Conference Area
|
The overwhelming popularity of the leaflet table in previous years, not to
mention the state of it, has given us ideas. This year things are going to be
different round here. We are increasing your value per dollar (what dollar you
ask ... we're coming to that) by having not one but TWO leaflet tables. These
will be located at both entrances to the lower ground floor level where all
the serious conference activities are located (thus ensuring a high brow
audience).
A nominal £ 40.00 fee will be charged this year and
proceeds will go to boosting the coffers of The Nikos Fund (giving you a warm
glow inside), and enabling us to employ a full time staff member to oversee
and administer the tables. You can either pre-pay with your registration form,
or pay on your arrival. You then hand over your leaflets / publications (a
maximum of 3 types of items) to our Publication Police (who the nice people at
the Meet & Greet Desk will guide you to) and they will ensure that both tables
are continually stocked with your marketing material. You can then get on with
enjoying the rest of the weekend knowing someone ELSE is worrying about large
bundles of bumf and stock levels. Easy isn't it?
To avoid mutual embarrassment, we would like to respectfully bring to your
attention now that any material left strategically lying round other areas of
the hotel, or accidentally left on the leaflet table to rest, will be removed,
rolled into a tight cylinder, and inserted into a convenient orifice of the
delegate responsible...

The Mezzanine
|
|
One of the many advantages of the Royal Garden Hotel is the amount of space
available for dedicated entertainment and networking areas. Forming
something of a social hub during the weekend, the Mezzanine level consists
of three different rooms which will house our main bars and schmoozing areas
- all for the exclusive use of ILMC delegates.
If you're hoping to meet
with friends, bump into strangers or make uninvited approaches to people
you've never met but are desperate to annoy, this is the place to do it...

Access All Areas
|
Either we've been more industrious, or the business is taking an up-turn,
because for some reason this year there seem to be a hell of a lot of shows
that you can get into during the ILMC weekend just by waving your conference
laminate at the doorman.
Sounds too good to be true - and it probably is - so
you'd best check at the Help Desk if you're one of the three delegates who
will actually venture out of the air-conditioned luxury of the hotel to sample
the delights of London's concert circuit. This particularly applies to
anything marked with a '*', for which no guarantees are offered. Our thanks to
everyone who has contributed, and to the Primary team who put it together.

The Charity Swag Stall
Ground Floor Lobby
|
Thanks to our chums at Crewe Issue, the Swag Stall will be the place to choose
from an unrefusable range of items that you can take home as presents or
lifetime souvenirs of your trip to 'ILMC the 13th'.
All proceeds go to The Nikos Fund as usual.

Registration Desk
Ground Floor Lobby
|
The Registration Desk will be open from midday Thursday in the main hotel
lobby for the benefit of the super-enthusiastic 'early birds' in our midst.
All conference info will be ready and waiting for you in a smart pack when you
arrive.

Courtesy Coaches & The Bus Stop
Ground Floor Lobby
|
|
Rather than leave innocent ILMC delegates to the vagaries of London public
transport, on certain occasions when ILMC events are "off site", the good folk
at ShowTours have rushed to our rescue with a complimentary coach and horses
(well, a coach anyway - and we cannot guarantee that the driver will be called
Igor and call you "master" either..).
We can guarantee however, that there will be a "Bus Stop" unmistakably
marked "bus stop" in the lobby area of the hotel which will serve as a
meeting point. Timetables will be posted there daily (not unlike the
current British Rail system, but slightly more accurate).

|
|
The Tour Company Travel Desk
Ground Floor Lobby
|
The ILMC's official travel agent - The Tour Company - will be on hand to
answer all your accommodation and travel questions.
They will be open:
- Friday 10.00 - 15.00, 17.00 - 18.00
- Saturday 09.30 - 10.30, 12.30 - 15.00, 17.00 - 18.00
- Sunday 09.30 - 10.30, 12.30 - 15.00, 17.00 - 18.00
If you have an "out of hours" emergency, go to the ILMC help desk and they will locate a Tour Company Rep for you.
They've also been known to solve a whole range of other problems,
so stop by join the queue, and
tell Tina and Lesley all about it.

Rogues Gallery & Digital Studio
Main Room Foyer, Lower Ground Floor
|
|
For some time now, our Rogues Gallery of delegates' mug-shots has looked more
like a "Little Shop of Horrors" -Ê not necessarily because our industry is
populated by the results of early genetic experimentation, but because most of
the photography on display is somewhat lacking in the flattery department.
Rescue is at hand, however, in the form of Guido Karp of FansUNITED (nominated
as Music Photographer of the Year three times) who, in a fit of artistic
despair, has generously offered to provide us with a Digital Photographic
Studio where delegates will be able to view their photographs on Guido's
computer before they're printed out and added to our collection. All you will
have to do in return is dig deep for a donation to The Nikos Fund - and say
'fromage'.Ê In the interest of art, decency and good taste, we urge you to
avail yourself of this facility!

Free Food & Drink
|
We know that everyone comes to the ILMC to improve their mind and the state of
the world in general, but we feel that it's our duty to provide you with as
many opportunities as possible to tip free stuff down your throats anyway. The
list of freebies currently on offer - with more to come - includes mouth-
watering complimentary buffet lunches, coffee breaks on Saturday and Sunday
mornings, Gay's Champagne Reception ('What's your poison?'), and free drinks
whenever someone else can be found to foot the bill..!
This year we'll be solving the congestion problems caused by the feeding
frenzy of Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes by extending the Saturday break, and
providing extra areas where you can sit down and eat in relative peace and
quiet.

|
Ticketmaster's Cyber Cafe
The Mezzanine
|
|
World renowned ticket sellers, Ticket Master, are once again hosting the
ILMC's main area for all-day private meetings and eatings - the Cyber Cafe
on the hotel's mezzanine floor. Open until late at night each day from
Friday afternoon until Sunday evening, the Cyber Cafe will be the place to
go to relax over a quiet coffee, check your e-mail, or cut those
multi-million dollar tour deals.
It is also be the place to head for on
Friday night to sample The Royal Garden's interpretation of a good old
English 'Fish n' Chips' meal, or at breakfast time as an alternative to the
hotel restaurant on the 10th floor if you fancy something more in the way of
croissants and pastries rather than full-blown, 5 star fodder - or during
the buffet lunches if you want to find a quiet table at which you can sit
and eat.
|
|
|
|
Carl's Bar
The Mezzanine
|
|
The central schmoozing area for all registered delegates at ILMC the 13th will
again be Carl's Bar - brought to you once more by those very nice people at
Carlsberg. Designed as a replica of Prince
Albert's personal train carriage, the bar is set in the heart of the hotel -
with commanding views across the lobby from the raised Mezzanine level - and
will remain open until the wee small hours right through the weekend.
A quiet annex to the main bar, our newly-themed 'Carl's Crypt', will be open
each evening for game-playing, chilling and general silliness against a
background of cool jazz grooves.
Featured in this space will be an exhibition
of photographs taken between 1963 and 1984 by the world-famous German
photographer, Uwe Rau, of some of the established legends and modern
innovators of Jazz during their performances at the Berlin Jazz Festival and
beyond - which is brought to you courtesy of Brickhouse Fine Art.
Less uplifting - but of equal significance to
some - will be the ubiquitous table football machine (a brand new Garlando one
- so don't break it..!)

Exclusivity...
|
|
Once more we welcome back those industry stalwarts from Showsec who will
spend the weekend making the conference a safer place to be, by keeping out
unwanted rabble and offering guidance and assistance to registered rabble.
