2004 at
The Royal Garden Hotel
to celebrate the games
of the 16th ILMC-iad

GET SET FOR THE
GAMES
As you can hardly have
failed to notice, there’s a big event heading our way next
year. In 2004 the eyes of the whole world
will be focussed on one place as the most gifted and brightest stars from
every country on the planet are called upon to assemble at the home of an
ancient civilisation to represent their nation, demonstrate their skills
and test their prowess in a spirit of harmony and friendly competition.
Records will be broken, awards bestowed, and copious amounts of prohibited
substances consumed by some of the least athletic men and women ever to
draw breath...
Yes, you guessed it, it’s
ILMC time again. The music industry’s own ‘Polemic Games’ (NB: polemic
[noun] - a controversial argument of opinions and ideas) are set to
run from the grand opening ceremony on March 12 until the flame of the
16th ‘ILMC-iad’ finally flickers out on Sunday, March 14. London’s
luxurious Royal Garden Hotel will once again serve as the grand arena and
delegates' village for hundreds of competitors from every track and field
of the live music industry who have qualified to take part in the three
days of mental gymnastics and marathon social agenda.
Your official competitor’s entry form will be mailed in
early January - with details of challenging main events like drinks
receptions, complimentary lunches, sports fixtures, dinners, free gigs
and, of course, our annual deluxe 'Feast of Champions’ gala dinner awards
ceremony. It will also guide you through the process of reserving one of
the strictly limited number of places available, and securing a room
within the Royal Garden’s "delegates' village". Meanwhile our conference
website at www.ilmc.com
will open in early December with initial conference details and a centre
for registration and payment via our new secure server. Information about
the final discussion agenda will follow a few weeks later as usual, but
this year will see a fairly major shake-up in the design of the conference
schedule - with a greater number of shorter, more focussed meetings to
choose from.
In the meantime the ILMC team will continue making truly
Olympian efforts to ensure that our 16th meeting achieves a new ‘personal
best’ and lives up to it’s own, newly acquired Polemic motto: ‘Sonorius,
sumptuosius, debilitius’ (roughly translated for those without the benefit
of a classical education: noisier, more extravagant, and more
knackering...). So forget what’s happening in Greece, Portugal, or
anywhere else - there’s only one global event next year worth remembering.
Make a note in your diary now and get into training for the big event of
2004 - ILMC XVI. It’s the only games in town...
FUELLING THE ILMC FLAME
Although the event itself is still some five months
away, our very own ‘Polemic Torch’ has already been ignited and
started out on it’s long journey to the Royal Garden Hotel in March - with
some of the concert industry’s finest having already picked up the idea of
supporting ILMC 16 through advertising and sponsorship, and decided to run
with it. (You’ve got to admit it - this is clever stuff...).
The companies who have so far signed up to be
champions of the ILMC cause are listed below. As far as we’re

THE NEW e.NEWS
As you may just have noticed by now, our trusty old
ILMC e.News has had something of a facelift. The clunky plain
text has been replaced by this new, hi-tech, all-singing-all-dancing
multimedia format - and we plan to keep it this way unless you tell us
otherwise. If you have any problems with the new format, just hit the
‘reply’ button now and let us know. Meanwhile we’ll be opening a new
centre on the ILMC web site (www.ilmc.com) where these priceless little epics can be
stored for posterity and browsed at your leisure.
We have also created a new grade of email message - the
‘e.NewsFLASH’ - which will be reserved for short conference news and
update messages to specific groups of members, so if one lands in your
Inbox, don’t hit the ‘delete’ key before you’ve read it - we’re probably
trying to tell you something you need to know...
RTC NEWS ROUND-UP
Thanks to the input of Ben, Roger and many other
conscientious members, the ‘Round-the-Clock News’ service at www.ilmc.com has continued
to develop and is perilously close to becoming the definitive source of

would therefore be too long, but here is a selection of the major
