Christmas Heralds Digital Sales Boom in US and UK

After toppling Alicia Keys' No One from the top spot last week, Flo Rida's Low remains No. 1 this week on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The track's 470,000 digital sales sets a single-week record, easily trumping the former title-holder, Fergie's Fergalicious at 294,000. In the UK, digital download sales enjoyed record levels, boosted by MP3 players given as christmas presents. New X-Factor winner

Leon Jackson topped digital sales followed by previous winner Leona Lewis, Timbaland, Soulja BOy, Take That, Girls Aloud and Mark Ronson/Amy Winehouse according to the Official UK Charts Company.

 

In between Christmas and New Year 2.94 million download tracks were sold pushing the total UK digital sales to 77.6 million for 2007, 25% higher than 2006.
