Gaga brilliant at BRITS, Liam gets "Knobhead" award

Lady Gaga picked up three BRIT awards at a fun-filled awards ceremony, dedicating one gong to fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

The Gagameister was closely followed by JLS who picked up Best British Single for Beat Again and British Breakthrough act.

Gaga, who picked up best international album for The Fame, best international female and MTV's international breakthrough act was one of a number of top female artists winning on the night including Lily Allen, Ellie Goulding (critics choice) and Florence and the Machine (best album for Lungs).

The Spice Girls picked up most 'memorable performance at the BRITS' and Liam Gallagher picked up Oasis's award for best album over the last few years for Whats The Story Morning Glory in a fit of truculent bad boy behaviour, prompting the most excellent host Peter Kay to remark "what a knobhead". Hear hear.

Jonathan Ross looked (and behaved) like an embarrassing elder uncle when giving an award, Courtney Love was remarkably sane, Noddy Holder from Slade was fab and Dame Shirley Bassey just looked cool. Performances on the night included JLS, best Brit band winners Kasabian, a strangely out of synch Cheryl Cole, two great duets with winners Dizzee Rascal with Florence & The Machine followed by best international male winner Jay-Z with Alicia Keys and a rousing finale from outstanding contribution winner Robbie Williams.
