More on the new Resale Rights Society, as Viagogo chief Eric Baker tells CMU Daily that while he believes that the secondary ticketing industry should work closely with the rest of the music business, he does not believe the RRS proposals - to pass a cut of any resale onto artists, managers and promoters - is the way to do it.
More on the new Resale Rights Society, as Viagogo chief Eric Baker tells CMU Daily
that while he believes that the secondary ticketing industry should
work closely with the rest of the music business, he does not believe
the RRS proposals - to pass a cut of any resale onto artists, managers
and promoters - is the way to do it.
He reckons his company's existing partnerships with Warner Music, Live Nation in the Netherlands, and artists like The Police, Linkin Park and Peter Gabriel are the way forward.
Baker
said "Expecting a fan to pay a tax to resell their ticket is as absurd
as Ford Motor Company expecting a customer to pay a tax to sell on
their old car. In the end, levying this additional charge on ticket
resale will end up making tickets more expensive for fans. As Viagogo
works for the fans, we will never support a proposal that taxes them."
