Pop acts dominate the 2008 BRIT Awards nominations, with Leona Lewis, Mika and Take That each up for four awards. Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Mark Ronson and Kate Nash each scored three nominations.
Nash is up for British Breakthrough Act, along with Bat For Lashes, Klaxons, Leona Lewis and Mika. The Eagles scored nominations for two international BRITS in recognition of the success of their comeback album, "Long Road Out of Eden." They will compete with Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters, Kings Of Leon and White Stripes in the International Group category.
Neither Radiohead or Prince, who enjoyed significant success in the UK, were permitted to be nominated because their releases last year were not chart eligible. The BRIT Awards ceremony will take place Februray 20th at London's Earls Court and performers confirmed for the event include Kaiser Chiefs, Minogue, Ronson, Mika and Rihanna. Sir Paul McCartney is the Outstanding Contribution to Music recipient and he will perform at the end of the ceremony.
