US soul singer Teddy Pendergrass has died, aged 59, following surgery for cancer.

His son, Teddy Pendergrass II, told AP that his father died at the Bryn Mawr Hospital in Philadelphia.

And cult indie musician Jay Reatard has died at his Memphis home, aged just 29. The cause of his death has not yet been announced, although friends have said that he had recently been complaining of flu-like symptoms.
