A remote control 'spy helicopter' was used at V Festival last weekend, helping police there monitor the 90,000-strong event from the skies.

Staffordshire police claim the clever device helped them capture various offenders at the festival's Weston Park site, particularly in the car park where it was used to spy on potential car thieves. The 70cm wide flying surveillance drone is fitted with high reolution video and still cameras. The copter was not flown over the main arena areas at V for fears of injury in the event of a crash. The device, which weighs 1.2 - 3.7kg is invisible to the naked eye above 100m (and silent too) and is distributed in the UK by MW Power.
