SonyBMG has posted a net income of $21million for the last quarter, which compares favourably with the $81m loss made in the same quarter the previous year.

Revenues were roughly the same with releases from Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson and R Kelly but costs were down, resulting in turnaround in overall profits.

Sony Corp has enjoyed improved performance elsewhere in its operations, with overall profits more than doubling year on year, from YEN32.29billion to YEN66.46b.

Much of the profits boost came from the conglom's electronics division, where sales of the Bravia flat-screen TVs and Cybershot digital cameras have performed particularly well.
